Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Long term relationship problem

I was in a 8 year relationship have 2 children together. we were never married he filed for a divorce in kaufman county in may of last year and the judge dismissed all of the petitions filed because they were not valid. I left him in may of last year we still dont have any type of legal custody paper. I did file an attorney general case because when i moved I applied for food stamps. I am currently looking to move to florida. He has become increasingly possesive and continuely makes threats about taking the kids. I would like to know what the best route would be to take to put a stop to this negative relationship as i feel it is only having negative effects on my children. I have thought of filing a restraining order.. I need some direction and some knowledge of what my rights are and his rights are.

Re: Long term relationship problem

Based on what you have written, there are a few different directions you may want to pursue. Dependent upon which county you live in, you may want to consider following through with a protective order and obtaining the appropriate court orders to establish paternity, custody, support, and visitation (maybe supervised). You should consider speaking to a local family law firm to protect your interest and rights. If my local firm can assist you with this legal matter or any other legal issue, please contact us at lawguru@jbrashearlaw.com to arrange for a consultation.
