Mother and Grandmother are drug abusers
My cousin and her mother, my aunt are both single mothers and drug abusers. My cousin has a 3yr. old and an 11 yr. old. The 11 yr. old has been raised by great grandparents until last year when the mother took him back. My cousin does not know who the fathers' of her kids are. She disappears several weeks at a time to get high and drunk and prostitutes herself for drugs. The grandmother keeps the children but she is addicted to painkillers and is high most of the time. She even had an accident in which she was found to be on Marijuana and pres.drugs, a year ago. She is on these when she keeps the kids. Child protective services have been called several times, they do nothing.
I used to keep the baby for weeks at a time while the mother would "go out", until I told the mom to get help for her problem and I would keep the baby till then. She threatened me with the law and will not let me keep him anymore. Now the kids are left with the greatgrandparents 78 and 84yrs.old.
My husband and I would like to petition the court for custody based on an unfit mother. I dont have very much money. Help.

Call the State Bar of Texas (look in the phone book)for local pro bono services. This is going to be really difficult.
