Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Moved out

My wife moved out and went back to LA with our 11 month old girl. She had her lawyer fax a 40 page divorce decree. Do I have any control over where she lives? She moved over 3.5 hrs away. The decree allows for visitation, however I would have to drive 7 hrs round trip. Does Tx law give me any control over where she makes her new home?

Re: Moved out

It depends. IF she has been in Louisiana long enough to comply with all juristdictional and venue requirements, then the case will properly be before the Louisiana courts and subject to their law.

If she has not then you might be able to pull the case back to Texas.

You should immediately contact a Louisiana attorney and see if there is any reason to stop the current suit.
