Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I'm pregnant. What should I do?

I am 4 months pregnant. My boyfriend and I broke up. I have no way of contacting him. I still have the same phone numbers and I live at the same address. At the end of our relationship, I realized that he was quite violent and I also learned that he had been in prison at least twice. I want nothing more to do with this man. I purchased my home in the last 6 months so I really don't want to move. I am also concerned that if I move, a judge might think I was hiding from my ex-boyfriend (which of course I would be). What is my best move? I heard I should move out of state.

If your ex-boyfriend said or did anything that makes you fear for your safety you should contact your local County Attorney's office and seek assistance filing an application for a protective order. The agency attorneys will help you free of charge. You may also hire a private attorney to help you do this. No one will think less of you if you hide from him because you are fearful.
