Can a Respondent in a Child Support Modification case after being served papers from the State the child resides file to open and modify in another state?

From where does the current order originate? Are both parties represented by counsel? Generally speaking (in a VERY general sense, as there are exceptions), a foreign order can be registered in Texas and enforced here; but modified only with the consent of the originating court. The courts are careful to control the jurisdiction of a case involving a child, but can only act when the matter is brought to their attention. I realize this may not answer your question, but since there are so many technical issues involved, I think that only an attorney reviewing all of the file would be able to properly advise you.
