Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

stepson adoption

My sons bio father has not had any contact with us in five years and has never had a relation ship with his son. My husband would like to adopt my son who calls him daddy and, doesn't know any different since we have been together since he was an infant. his bio father is not on his birth certificate because he left when i got pregnant. Will this complicate the process of adoption?

Re: stepson adoption

No. Regardless of what the piece of paper says, the bio dad is still the father of the child. good Luck.

Re: stepson adoption

Not being on the birth certificate won't really make much difference. As long as you can locate the biological father you should be able to proceed. Find an attorney who handles step-parent adoptions.
