texas engagement ring return law
My daughter broke her engagement off because her intended alcohol addiction became out of control. His parents are now saying they are going to sue us to get the ring back

The general rule is that the gift was conditional upon marriage, and if the marriage does not occur, then the ring is returned. This is strengthened by the fact that she ended the engagement. There are exceptions. She can return the ring, or take her chances.
