car repairs

their is a conflict between the owner and an employee at a repair shop where we are having our car repaired, the person we gave money to, evidently did not give it all to the owner, now their saying something else is wrong with the car, the owner says he's stealing, the worker says the owner is being sued by other people that he ahs done wrong to, meanwhile our car is stuck in the middle, of this, WHAT DO WE DO? HOW DO WE GET OUR CAR BACK, I TOLD THEM NOT TO DO ANYMORE WORK , BUT THE WORKER SAYS THE OWNER HAS SOMEONE ELSE WORKING ON THE CAR, WHAT DO WE DO?

You arrange to have your car repaired at a reputable shop, and have them arrange the tow from where it's at to their shop. Then you go to where your car presently is and tell them to cease any work, place the parts in the trunk, and be prepared to pay for whatever work they've done to date.

Pay by credit card or check. No cash. Make sure your car is picked up and towed to the new shop.

You can then sue them for the difference in price between what they quoted and what it cost to repair, plus excess charges for unauthorized work. That suit will be in Small Claims.
