Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Car sold but never paid for about 10 yrs ago

My Father had an old 63 Chevy Impala and sold it to a friend of his at the time. The friend never paid for the car. I thought at the time my Father had given the guy the title and just lost out on the money. Shortly after that my father passed away, that was in 97. I was talking to my mother the other day and happened to ask her about the title to the car she said she would check to see if she still had it and my father had hung onto the paperwork because the guy had never paid. So my question is this. If I would like to see about finding the automobile and lets suppose some how it turns up, what are my legal rights to the car?

Your rights, if any, have been cut off by the Statute of LImitations.
