civil case, responsible party

If person ''A'' gave person ''B'' a pain pill that belonged to person ''A''. And person ''A'' also knew that person ''B'' had already been heavily drinking alcohol. And then person ''B'' died, how responsible in a court of law, would person ''B'' be.
