Non-payment for music services

A client that contracted my band to play a New Year's Eve party has not made payment in full. The contract that their agent signed required full payment by the date of the engagement, but they still have not sent me the check for the second half of the payment. Phone calls to their representative have only resulted in vague excuses and hollow promises to send me the check. If I sue in small claims court, may I request a judgement for interest added to the amount owed?

Yes but you might not get interest back to the engagement date but only to the date you started your proceeding to collect. Either way, you should take action on this to collect, and an attorney can point you in the right direction or collect for you.

Absolutely, with interest running from 30 days after the date the second payment was due. Interest will be at the prime rate as of the date of judgment.
