Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Sued for Breach of Contract -can't afford to pay

I was recently sued in civil court and in the 'heat of the moment' entered a settlement in the prescence of the judge. The deadline to formalize it and sign is coming up and I cannot afford to pay the 'reasonble attorney fees'. The defendent's attorney will not provide me w/ a copy of the settlement to review and is requesting payment of his fees before he'll let me sign. What are my rights? What can I do?
