can a sub contractor put a lien on my property for non payment ? signed a contract with one co. to have home demolished he had someone else do the job payed co.half been waiting for fema for the other half

Yes, and then they can get a court order that says that property has to be sold to get enough to make the outstanding payment. You get shafted no matter what. Also, no one cares that you're waiting for money from FEMA. That's your own personal business and it doesn't even enter into consideration. Make the payment! Hope this helps.
