Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas

What can insurance company do to son?

Last year my now 19 yr old son was given a car from friends who were moving. He was not given title(they would do later)He was taking it to be looked at and was involved in an accident, received citation for no ins and failure to control speed, went to traffic court and judge dismissed ins ticket because he had coverage on our car(liab.)and school to dismiss speed ticket. Ins Co is calling wanting $7000 or threatening litigaton. He has no job, owns nothing and this is not on his driving record. When I originally contacted our ins. co they would not do anything cause the car was not registered to us and we have since found out that the people who gave him the car had never changed to title from the people they bought it from. What should he do? He tried talking to the lady from attorneys office who called but they want it all now. Thank you for your help

Re: What can insurance company do to son?

Your son can be sued in County or District Court. I recommend that you contact an attorney and discuss all of the details of the accident and the situation with the attorney. If there was insurance on the vehicle given to your son, that insurance company should be contacted. The titled owners of the vehicle may have some liability in this case also, but you have not supplied enough facts about the case. I recommend discussing it in detail with an attorney.
