Legal Question in Insurance Law in Texas

Can you tell me if it is against the law for someone to keep a copy of a life insurance policy that has someone else named as a beneficiary in order to keep them from getting the payout? Also, can someone else forge someone's name on a policy or is information such as a social security number, drivers licence number etc. needed for proof of identy?

I don't fully understand you question.

But, it is perfectly legal for someone to own a policy of insurance on another person's life, and that person can keep a copy of the insurance policy.

I am not sure how keeping a physical copy of the insurance policy could prevent the true beneficiary from getting the payout. The insurance company will make the payout to the beneficiary even if the beneficiary does not have a copy of the insurance policy.

No one can legally "forge" someone's name to a document. It is not proper to sign someone else's name to a document without permission, which would include a power of attorney.

I don't understand your question about social security number and drivers' license number being used as proof of identity; they are both sometimes required as proof of identity.

Good luck.
