Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Texas

Artist use of others images while working for companies

I worked for a company - and built a website for them using copyrighted images. i told the owner that the images HAD to be paid for - but he ignored my heed and released the site anyway - now he is getting sued by the owners of the images and now he wants to sue me cause i used them. i do understand that what i did for him, while working for him is his work - but can he win a case against me for using the images?
