Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Company credit card in my name unpaid by company

I was an event planning coordinator who incurred a several thousand dollars on a Company Credit Card in my name for a big event which was approved by the company. The event was a success. Before I could submit my expense reports, I was laid off and immediately let go. Thus, I was unable to submit my expenses and don't have access to my receipts as they, along with my personal items, were thrown away. I've contacted the company and they say they will ''take care of it'' but now this has adversely affected my credit due to non payment. ,Where do I go for help? I can't afford, nor am I willing to pay $10K in credit card expenses that were for the benefit of my former company. Please advise.
