Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

My husband, a pharmacy technician at a national hospital "chain" , has recently developed an allergy due to the chemical components of the nitrile gloves his hospital uses. He breaks out in horrible rashes on his face and other exposed areas when he is in contact with the rubber accellerants used in these gloves. As a result, his Dr. says he cannot return to an environment that exposes him to this allergy. The hospital has notified him that they cannot accomodate him and his option is to request FMLA and file for short-term disability. This seems odd given that the allergy is "non-recoverable". Does the hospital have any liability for exposing him to the chemical or do they have any obligations to accomodate?

Call the Tex Division of workers Compensation...and ask for help..800 252 7031....if the doctor says his allergy is caused by work, work comp insurance may cover him..but if the employer does not carry work comp, IMHO there is no remedy as business interests come before workers in Texas law
