Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Being laid off w/ severance pay

The first week of January I was informed that our office was closing and that we were being laid off. Our last day was 1/15/03. The employer told was that we would be given a two week severance pay. We haven't received our severance pay yet. It has been almost two weeks. Is there anything we can do to get paid?

Re: Being laid off w/ severance pay

If a business of 100 or more employees closes down a site for over 30 days (where over 50 employees are affected), the WARN act requires 60 days advance notice. Employees who have been laid off w/o adequate notice under the WARN act may sue for back wages.
