Unpaid time
My Police department requires us to be on duty for 8.5 hours a day, but only pays us for 8. We do not get any scheduled, or uninterupted lunch breaks. Is this legal? If not, can they be forced to pay us for all the time we have not received? If so, how far back can they be forced to pay? They also pay us our straight time rate through 43 hours a week. We don't start earning time and a half until the 44th hour. Is this also legal?
