Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

Landlord saying we owe money over a grand

We were in a townhome and we take very good care of our place. there was new carpet put in before we moved in and when we left it was spotless i know because i shampooed it all myself we do have kids so there was dirt but no stains it was immaculate they also said there was a hole in the upstairs room. We were moved out on august 15th of 2006 We recieved a call from a LAWYER in November with this news. No one from the office bothered to notify us. They are saying we owe 1,080 dollars from steam cleaning the carpets. them fixing a hole and unpaid rent wich is untrue because our rent was up to date. there should have been no reason to steam clean the carpets And a hole in a wall that I had no idea was there It was in the room that was mine and my boyfriends. SO can I demand pictures of the damage before it was fixed as proof? If not what courses of action do I have as far as those alleged claims? And what do I do about them saying we have unpaid rent?

Did you get your deposit back? Did you provide a forwarding address? You need to retain a lawyer, or respond yourself to the letter. (keep copies and send mail CMRRR). Review the website of the Texas Attorney General under landlord/tenant. The deposit requirements are detailed there, and in the Texas Property Code. The landlord might owe YOU money.
