Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

The leasing agent at my apartment complex will allow me to remove my name from the lease as long as my roommate notarizes a form releasing me. She is currently refusing and is trying to get me to pay full rent, but I dont physically live in that state anymore. Is there anything I can do to protect myself?

I think what you're saying is that you broke a lease in another state. It is very unlikely that these folks would cross state lines to sue you for a broken lease. Your credit might (ultimately) be affected, but other than this, there probably won't be any consequences.

Stop communicating with these people, and get on with your life. Don't let them scare you into doing something you can't afford to do.
