Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

Legal rental age & credit charge responsibility in Tx

First, what is the legal renting age in Tx. Meaning who can be held accountable to a lease agreement.

Second, if a person is under 18 and on the lease and they move. The primary tennant stays at the apartment for another 3 monthes without paying rent, how is it possible that someone on the lease who is under 18 and not the primary tennant be responsible for the payment of the balance. 1200 dollars was posted to my credit less than a month after i turned 18. And it doesnt make sense to me. It has messed up my credit this whole time effecting creditcards and loans.

If you were under 18, you lacked the capacity to make a contract. Provide the credit agencies with this information and hopefully they will remove the negative report. Now that you're over 18 be very careful of what you sign and what you commit to. Be sure you can pay for it! You're in the big league now and, as you have learned, it is very easy to mess up.
