Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Texas

Statute of Limitations on Move-out Fees

My previous landlord just bribed me, I was told that if I took down an unfavorable review of the complex, they would not pursue any charges that were incurred when updating our unit after we moved out. We moved out almost 8 months ago and are now trying to buy a home. When they were called for a rental verification, they told me that if we didn't take to posting down they would not give us an accurate rental verification either. I posted everything anonymously, so I don't even know how they found out it was mine! How long do landlords have after you move out to send you a bill for damages?

Review the criteria on the landlord-tenant section of the Attorney General's website. It is likely that you satisfied your obligations, and that they did not, and this is retaliation for the posting. If so, you have excellent lawsuit, and if you prevail could get your attorney fees reimbursed to you.
