Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Texas

On Saturday, June 19, 2010 a lumber truck hit a power line running from my house to the utility pole. The accident caused the power line to be detached from the meter box on the side of my house leaving me without power. When the power company came out, I was told that I needed to have an electrician come out and fix the problem first before they could restore my power. When I contacted the power company I was told that I was financially responsible for everything and could file a claim and possibly be reimbursed. What legal rights or options do I have?

You can file a property damage claim with the insurance company for the lumber truck. If not, you can go after your homeowner's policy, and they will in turn pursue the lumber truck.
