Legal Question in Military Law in Texas

Brig

My son got an article 15 for attempted suicide then he went awol shortly thereafter. Turned himself in at Ft. Sill and was sent back to Maryland. They are now telling him they want to court marshal him are they trying to scare him?

Typically, when someone goes awol, they are taken to Article 15 punishment and may be given a discharge. However, they can be sent to a court-martial. Usually though there is some other offense or factor which is deemed to warrant a court-martial. I do no know why they would send your son to a court-martial. It may be that they are trying to scare him into doing something, or it may be something else. Either way, he should speak with an attorney before he makes any statements or signs any papers.
