Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

Baseballs and Cars

My son was throwing a baseball around outside the fence and hit a parked car.

There was a softball game going on at the time. The car was parked, facing the ball field, about 20-25 yards from the first base line.

The owner of the car is very upset about the damage and feels that I am responsible. However, he left his car in the same place for the next hour or so, until the game was over.

Also, there is a pitching backdrop, where pitchers warm-up, just out side the dugout on just yards from the his car.

Am I liable?

give the owner the name of your homeowner's insurance..and let them pay or negotiate....as they say, why have insurance if you dont use it and it will not affect rates

Generally a parent is not responsible for the torts of their children. Nonetheless, liability can be established if the parent's own negligence contributed. You may be responsible for failing to properly supervise your son. Why was he allowed to throw a baseball where it might hit a parked car? You may or may not be liable.
