If a vehicle hits yours and runs, then the insurance for the hit and run vehicle generally has to pay. It does not have to pay for damage caused by a driver who was not authorized to drive the vehicle.
If the driver was not authorized, you can make a claim on your own auto policy if you have uninsured motorist coverage.
