Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas
I was injured at our local dog park where dogs were legally off leash. A large, fast, strong dog hit me from behind, knocking my feet out from under me and I fell on my arm. My wrist was broken, requiring surgery and will require physical therapy. Besides medical bills, I also have lost income because I am a violin teacher and also plaly professionally and cannot play for several weeks. Even then, it will take me a while to get back to 100%.
Are the dog owners responsible? We have spoken to them and they referred us to their homeowners' insurance. I have spoken with an adjuster who told me that she had to "investigate further", but I didni't like what I heard from her. I am still waiting to hear back from her, but I thought I would check with someone to see what our legal rights are.
I do have medical insurance, but even my 20% share is going to be around $2000.

Stop all communication with the homeowner's insurance adjuster and speak with a personal injury lawyer. You are entitled to recover your past and future medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, mental anguish, and disfigurement. Make sure you are getting all of the necessary medical care you need. I would be glad to answer any questions you may have.
