Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

Is it possible to sue my 17 year old adopted son for slander? He falsely claimed that I physically abused him and this has harmed my reputation. I don't want money from him--he has nothing except a social security check--but this is the only way I can think of to have a chance to clear my name.

Sure. It is possible. But the only damages you can recover from a slander case is money compensation. There is no "declaration of innocence" to clear your name. Furthermore, I'm not sure that being able to tell people that you sued your son for slander and won is really going to produce the effect you want. If you wind up with a default judgment because he couldn't afford a lawyer, people might even see it as further evidence of torment--suing someone who obviously cannot afford a lawyer to defend them.
