Legal Question in Product Liability in Texas

Overcharge from body shop?

I recently had two vehicles in an area body shop being repaired due to a theft at my home. I noticed that some of the charges i had did not make alot of sense. A friend I have known 20 plus years who previously owned a body shop stopped by 2 days after i picked up the vehicle so i asked him to look at my car and the receipt i was given for. For repairs on my vhicle needless to say he was also in shock by what i was charged 1000.00 for a replaced right window. He itemized everything and turns out that i should have only paid total 300.00. Do I ask the body shop to give me the 500 plus that is owed to me?

Re: Overcharge from body shop?

You may still be able to contest the bill and do a charge back on your credit card. You should file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Otherwise, you would need to sue, and there are several potential causes of action here but an attorney would need to see the receipt and read any policies the shop has posted and go over all the facts with you to advise on how to litigate this. You may want to simply contest the bill with the shop and tell them you want to get it resolved so is doesn't have to become a legal issue. You could also go through small claims court/JP court but you'd need to spend some time learning about the law and the process; an attorney can do this so you can go to work instead.
