I am aware that a landlord can change the locks for nonpayment of rent, but are they allowed to keep your equipment? Also, are they allowed to keep vehicles that belong to customers?

To keep that equipment, they must follow certain procedures that require notice and hearing. Check with an attorney to see if they met all of the requirements.
