Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

My ex-landlord has told me that I'm not allowed on the property (300+ apts) for no reason. He says that he will have me arrested if he catches me on the property. There has been no problem, we just never got along but no altercation or anything, not even verbal. The problem is that my grandchildren live in the complex with my daughter. He says he called the police on me when he found out I was visiting the kids on Thanksgiving, but appearently they did not respond before I left. I am a disabled 62 yr.old senior, hardly a threat to anyone. Now he has told my ex-son-in-law that he is not allowed on the property either(he used to live in the complex also) so he can not see his children. The latest is that my ex-wife (the kids' grandmother) has been told the same thing, that he would have her arrested for criminal tresspass. He has never given any of us any paperwork or anything, appearently he tells any ex-tenant the same thing and actually calls the police. He recently told my daughter that he's going to have me arrested "even if he has to take my cane away". I've not even spoken to him since I moved out 1 1/2 yrs. ago. Is this legal in Texas?

People who pay rent for an apartment have certain rights. One of those rights is the right to admit people or exclude people, as the lessor sees fit. I can let you into my apartment if I want to; that's what I pay rent for.

This landlord is a jerk.

I suggest that your daughter write a letter (paper letter - put a date on it - keep a copy) to the landlord and tell him that as long as she's paying rent, she will allow anybody she chooses to come to her home, and there's nothing he can do about it. She should tell him to start acting like an adult. She should send a copy of the letter to the local police department. In the letter, she should threaten to sue the landlord for harassment and breach of lease if he EVER interferes with any of her guests again.
