Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Can I be forced to sell my home that was left to me without a will from my parents? My sister has signed her interest over to me. I have two step sisters that are trying to make me sell.

I'm sorry to hear about your parents. I would have to research this issue before giving you a definitive answer, but here's my best shot. The answer depends on who owned the home first. You need to research how your parents acquired the home in the very beginning.

If the home was owned by the parents of you and your sister only, then no, the sisters likely can't force a sale. I'm assuming that the step parent was never added to the deed subsequently.

If the step-sisters' parent owned a portion of the home, (either because they bought it together or they were added later via gift or refinance) then yes, they can petition a court to force a sale.
