Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Fraud

we build a home for a client 5 years ago. he went over his cost on the construction of the home and had no money to pay us what he went over. he transfered a property over to us until he came up with the money to pay us back. after having it in our possesion for 3 years we sold the property. he has now filed a law suit against us but the statute of limitaion has expired. can his attorney fill against us for fraud if the transfer was legal. we made many attempts to collect the money he owed but he always claimed he had no money and he never paid taxes or maintained the property. does he have a case?
