Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

No More Free Storage

I will soon own a house and land that belonged to my mother, I will inherit it after it goes through probate and all that since I am the only child and now both parents are deceased. A neighbor is storing old stuff, not touched in 10 years probably, in a barn on this property.

This barn is gradually deteriorating and is an eyesore and I would like to tear it down. These neighbors are friends also and I dont want to offend them, but I would like to make them go in and clean out all their stuff. I have mentioned it to them once before and they didnt do anything. They said they would take care of it but didnt.

How do I tactfully but unoffensively tell them to remove their property from mine so the eyesore barns can be removed?

Re: No More Free Storage

Write them a nice letter and tell you that you are contracting to have the barns cleaned out or torn down on a certain date. Tell them that you will assume that anything left in the barn on that date are items that they no longer want and you will be glad to haul anything left to the dump. Leave it at that and they will let you know if they have other thoughts. Keep the communication open and I am sure you can work it out.
