Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Homeowners association being sued

I'm in a new neighborhood that has been handed off from the developer to the Home owners association. The neighborhood consists of 2 phases of which I am a part of phase 2 and in good standing with the HOA.

Several households of phase 2 are sueing the HOA claiming the HOA is fraudulent and not applicable to phase 2 asking for damages statutory damages, exemplary damages, attorney's fees, and expenses.

The HOA has recently recommended that homeowners seek individual legal counsel to protect ourself of a ''potential conflict of interest in the event the parties consider settlement or as the HOA evaluates different litigation stratgies''.

My question is as follows: How may I as a homeowner in goodstanding with the HOA be liable in the event that the lawsuit results in a favorable settlement or judgement for the plantiffs?

Thank you for your response.
