Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

I was given a notice today that I have an overdue balance on my apartment bill and that I only have until tomorrow (less than a day's notice) to pay it or they'll charge me a late fee every day I don't pay. However, I've paid my bill every month in the exact amount shown on the bill and never late, so I have no idea where this extraneous charge is coming from/what it is for? And I've never heard of this before today and yet I have to pay it by tomorrow? Is my landlord allowed to do this, without any prior notifications or reasons why there is this random charge?

You need to read your lease. The apartment manager is either following the lease or he isn't.
