Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

property

I was common law married and divorced in 91 in the divorce decree it reads that the x gets the residence as hi residence and that i would recieve in the event of sale 65% of the home.Does this make me a owner of the home with a asset? The reason i am asking is for social security.Because i thought this was not a asset. And the deed reads that i am the etux. Is it possible he did this own his own or that the courts had this done? The house was given to him at one time by his father.

Re: property

You don't own the house, but you own the net profits from the house under a contractual agreement. It is an asset that possibly can be sold to divest yourself from it.
