Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Texas County Tax Question

Received a letter stating that a lawsuit for past taxes in Bexar county Texas for a property that has not been occupied since 1989 since my mother died. I have not lived in Texas since 1973 and currently live in Calif. I have no way or interest in paying these back taxes. Can I abandon or donate to Bexar county and not have my current calif property placed in lien? Help!
