Legal Question in Social Security Law in Texas

They never sent me any notification.

My daughter was approved for SSI 11/2006. The SSI office did not send me notice of approval. I found out only when I went to their office in 01/2007. I sent all the required information to them. They told me to set up a dedicated account which I did. The woman working on my case said that she was going to send information the dedicated account and my daughters benefit amount. Again I never received anything. Recently my hours were cut at work so I contacted them to let them know. I sent all my recent paycheck stubs. I then received a message from SSI employee stating that they never verified my child support and that the money in the dedicated account can only be used for Medical and Education. Well no one informed of this ever. No I didn't just blow it I spent most of it on tutors. Am I responsible for something I was never informed of. Also because he did not receive my 12/01/06 pay check stub he reduced tithe benefit it went from 479.00 to 244.00. He is reporting my income at 1800 I pointed out to him that it was incorrect. He said until he receive the 12/01/06 paycheck he is estimating my income at 1800 He has Jan, Feb, March, April, May stubs. Why is he basing this on something from last year,

Re: They never sent me any notification.

Do what SSI tells you to do and then if you think you're not doing something right (and shuffling expenses is NOT right, no matter how you try to justify it), ask for more guidance.

You ARE responsible to make it your business to find out what the rules are, not wait for them to tell you.

If you think you're being mistreated, contact legal services and see if you can get some help from a low-income legal service provider, which might be a hotline that can look at your particular situation.
