Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas

An off duty police officer stopped me in traffic at gunpoint today, and cuffed me til an on duty backup officer could arrive. I did not even know he was a police officer until I was told to get out of the car, and saw his uniform (I complied because he shoved a gun in my face). I was detained for over an hour, and was only issued citations based on the officer's word that I was "following to closely" to another vehicle and for "changing lanes when unsafe". The other two weren't related to any road offenses... I hadn't changed my address on my license, and it's been 4 mo since I moved, and somehow my registration doesn't match my vehicle even though the dealer provided it to me. But, can an officer stop you off duty, much less at gunpoint?

An off duty officer can only stop you in certain situations.

You should consult with an attorney.

Good Luck!
