Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas

I received a traffic citation and agreed to complete a defensive driving class but failed to do so and missed the deadline. What are my options?

This answer really depends on the Judge for the Court handling your case.

Probably your best bet would be to contact the Court (or clerk) and VERY politely explain that you missed the deadline and ask if you can have a reasonable amount of time (1-2 weeks) to finish the course.

If that option doesn't work, then you may be able to appeal the conviction the Court (or County Court at Law, depending on the size of the county).

My suggestions is to call the Court and ask for a short extension, if they say no then consider retaining an attorney to help you appeal the case (assuming that you don't want the conviction on your driving record).

My answer to your question is based in the information you provided. For a more in-depth answer you should consult an attorney.
