Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas

speeding ticket in Plano, Tx

My 17 year old daughter was given a speeding ticket but it was mistaken identity. It was the SUV next to her. She saw the cop on her way to lunch. 20 minutes later she was about to pass the same cop in the same place. She knew he was there! The SUV next to her was ahead of me, hit his brakes to slow down and let her pull ahead. As they both pasted, the cop pulls out with lights and siren and pulls her over. She had NEVER be pulled over by any cop before this. She has chosen to fight the ticket. I(the Mom)called 3 different attorneys and they ALL said they don't do tickets in Plano, Tx. I found a blog that basically claims, over and over, that the judges and prosecutor are in a team. She representing herself and asked for a jury trial.

Re: speeding ticket in Plano, Tx

I can certainly empathize with your daughter's situation, but there is no question here. She has the right to represent herself, but know that it will be difficult to accomplish successfully. Many attorneys handle these cases in Plano, but often the client discovers that the cost of representation outweighs the consequences of a ticket dismissed on deferred or defensive driving.
