Legal Question in Traffic Law in Texas

Old Traffic Tickets in Texas

Can an attorney help me with old, unpaid traffic tickets (2+ years old) that have gone into active warrant status? I have several tickets from several different jurisdictions and want to have them resolved as quickly and cost effectively as possible. Combined, they total over $3000. One court told me that 4 tickets I had in their jurisdiction had been ''sent back'' for being over 2 years old and I would only have to pay $32 state fee on each of them. I have never heard of that. What does ''sent back'' mean?

I don't know what that particular court means by the language 'sent back'.

Sometimes, however, an attorney can get a misdemeanor warrant quashed based upon a type of laches defense. Usually it requires a showing that the defendant was in the state throughout the period in question, and that the defendant was readily available during that time (such as listed in the phone book or still living at the address listed on the citation). An attorney might be able to negotiate the status/cost of the various tickets. An attorney can likely post a cash bond for each ticket in order to get the warrants lifted -- and then negotiate the ticket.
