Wrong information in citation
Got a speeding ticket in Amarillo. Officer wrote down the wrong state for driver's license and car registration. Wrote to have case dismissed because wrong information on citation and plead NON CONTENDERE on form. Got letter back stating judge would not dismiss case and to send a plea of Guilty, Not Guilty or Non Contendere for trail or fine. No reply date was included in Amarillo reply letter. Since I have already send in a plea with the appeal to drop case, I have not send in a second plea. Should I send in the second plea or wait for the Amarillo municipal court to give me a deadline?
Re: Wrong information in citation
Be careful. The judge may not accept the no contest plea, since it was accompanied by a motion to dismiss. Also, if the original court date has come and gone, the judge can find you FTA and issue a warrant. Most municipalities have extensive websites. If you wish to retain an attorney to fight the ticket, you should do so immediately. If not, you can probably get it dismissed by completing deferred disposition. The forms and instructions for this kind of dismissal may be located on the municipal court webpage. TCL
