Is an attorney needed to probate a will? Can I take the will in question to court and have it probated without the service of an attorney?

Any legal matter can be pursued in court without the assistance of an attorney. However, all laws and procedures will still apply even though a non-attorney may be ignorant of them. The law provides certain protections to the estate and to the administrator when the legal procedures are followed correctly (for example, protection from creditors), which may be put in jeopardy by dealing with the matter "pro se," or without an attorney.
