Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

My father-in-law passed away just over 2 years ago, leaving all of his belongings divided evenly among his 6 children. My sister-in-law is the executor, and moved into his home and has been living there all this time, and has done nothing to get the house ready to put on the market. Some of her siblings are very upset about this and are wanting things to be settled so they can get their share of his estate. What is the time limit after death to disperse the funds/property left in an estate? My husband is the successor executor. Is there anything he should do?

Yes! He needs to contact an attorney to petition the court to have himself appointed as executor. It is obvious that your sister is breaching her fiduciary duties to the other heirs of the estate. He needs to take over.
