wills filed late.

what is the legal term for filing a will late.a lawyer told me today ,it simply means that my dad wanted me to have his house.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Can you give some additional facts? You have four years to probate a will from the date of death. There are some alternatives to probate that can be carried out after the four years, i.e. Muniment of Title, but I'm not sure if that's what you're referring to.
