Legal Question in Family Law in Trinidad and Tobago

I am a Trinidadian national married to a foreigner. We have one child and a home abroad. We have been visiting Trinidad for a few weeks, and I am considering staying in Trinidad. What conditions would have to be in place for Trinidad to be considered as our place of residence, and for Trinidadian courts to have jurisdiction over issues of divorce (we got married in Trinidad) and custody/access? Before we got married, we had agreed that we would live in his country for a few years, and then in my country. But of course, he's changed his mind. I don't want to be forced to go back to his country and then be stuck there for the rest of my life.
